About Me

Hello and welcome to my sustainability blog, ‘Local Impact‘. My name is Megan Tennant and I am a passionate sustainability advocator based in the ACT. I have recently completed a Diploma of Sustainable Living at the University of Tasmania and I also have a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Monash University. Throughout my career I have worked in many settings including clinical dietetics, public health nutrition, community development in the sport sector and more recently in digital mental health.

In my free time, I enjoy bushwalking, reading, gardening and spending time with my husband and two young children. Living a sustainable lifestyle is important to me to ensure my kids have a future on this planet.

I started this blog to document my sustainability journey. I have made many small changes to my family’s lifestyle over the years that have substantially reduced our energy use, consumption of material items and waste. I hope to make a ‘Local Impact’ on climate change by taking individual action and by sharing my knowledge to help others on their sustainability journey.

There is a wealth of information available online, however it is spread out, difficult to navigate and time-consuming to find the answers. I aim to create a resource to combine this information in one place and share my knowledge, research and tips that I’ve picked up on my journey towards a more sustainable lifestyle.

I write about a range of topics so that you can find solutions that work for your individual family situation and chosen lifestyle. I am keen to hear your suggestions for new topics and I will write about popular requests based on my experiences.

I hope you enjoy reading and become inspired to make your own ‘Local Impact’!
